The somewhat quiet and reserved founder of Facebook is going to be the central character in a new Hollywood film “The Social Network” due for release in a couple of weeks. Most people outside of the webby world won’t have heard of Zuck before so it’s likely to be a bit of a shock for most people to find out that FB is only 6 years old and has a population of half a billion.
New Yorker have just done a lovely piece on him if you want to get to know a bit more about the man who will be king of the social world. Zuckerberg has always been at the centre of very real privacy concerns and as the self-proclaimed king of the social world I would suggest that we all tread just a little warily. Here is a much quoted, but very dated, copy of an IM conversation that Zuckerberg had with a friend not long after Facebook was founded.
- ZUCK: yea so if you ever need info about anyone at harvard
ZUCK: just ask
ZUCK: i have over 4000 emails, pictures, addresses, sns
FRIEND: what!? how’d you manage that one?
ZUCK: people just submitted it
ZUCK: i don’t know why
ZUCK: they “trust me”
ZUCK: dumb fuck
Watch the man, he might be behind the social networking revolution but watch him, closely.
